About Sherlock Project
A free OSINT search platform designed to help users find publicly available information for usernames, phone numbers, email addresses and IP addresses.
What is Sherlock Project?
Sherlock Project is a free OSINT search platform. It helps security researchers, journalists, investigators, and privacy-conscious individuals find publicly available information linked to a username, phone number, email address or IP address.
Choose a search type, enter your query, and Sherlock Project checks supported public sources — social media, gaming networks, developer communities, cryptocurrency sites, forums, and more — returning results in real time as they are discovered.
Why We Built Sherlock Project
We created Sherlock Project because searching public information across the web should be fast, free, and accessible to everyone. Our mission is to give users a simple way to map an identifier — username, phone, email or IP — to its public digital footprint, whether for research, security, journalism, or personal privacy auditing.
- Conduct legitimate OSINT investigations
- Understand and audit your own digital footprint
- Verify identities for journalistic or security purposes
- Research potential security threats and impersonators
Privacy First
We take privacy seriously — both yours and the subjects you research. Sherlock Project operates under a strict zero-storage policy:
- Search queries are never stored on our servers
- We collect no personal information from users
- We only access publicly available profile information
- All searches are processed in real-time and discarded immediately
Technology & Coverage
Sherlock Project is powered by a high-performance distributed system that uses concurrent HTTP requests to check sources simultaneously across all four search types. Our database covers 2000+sources and is continuously maintained to ensure accuracy and broad coverage. The platform runs on Cloudflare Workers for global low-latency performance.
Ethical Use
Sherlock Project is intended for lawful, ethical use only. By using this tool, you agree to use it in accordance with applicable laws and our Terms of Service. Do not use it for harassment, stalking, or any illegal purpose.
Open Source & Community
The platform database that powers Sherlock Project is open source and available on GitHub. We welcome contributions from the community to improve platform coverage and accuracy.
